Help for blemish and spot prone skin

Dear readers,

In this post I will try and give you some good advice about keeping your skin healthy, and clear of any blemishes, spots, and blackheads. This used to be a huge problem for me but now it gets better and better with the products I try out. This is normal and happens to a lot of teenagers and young adults, it can happen for a lot of different reasons such as puberty, diet, stress or even your environment. Below I will give you some tips and tricks, also I will share some of my experiences.

How to keep your skin blemish free?
  • Water - Drinking water is one of the key elements to clear blemish free skin. Eventhough you might hear this all over the place it really does make a difference. The water clears your body from the inside, and flushes out all the impurities which may cause spots and blemishes.

  • Diet - Since you are what you eat change that unhealthy oily snack for some fresh fruit, vegetables or just a healthier option. In my case when I eat a lot of sweets with chocolate or just chocolate blemishes and spots come out exactly the same day! Also avoid a lot of sugary, oily, and spicy food because these will definitely make your skin worse.

  • Cleanse your pores - From time to time, fill a bowl with boiling hot water. Put your head in just above it so all the steam goes on your face, do this for about 10 minutes. This will open up your pores and get rid of the bacteria which might be causing blemishes. Then remember to splash your face with cold water to avoid the bacteria getting back into the open pores!

  • Touching - Avoid touching your face with your hands, this will just put hundreds of bacteria on your face without you even knowing! Also, clean your phone from time to time, there are also bacteria on your phone which you put against your face.

  • Clean! Clean! Clean! - Get into a routine of cleaning your face daily using face washes, then remember to moisturise and keep that face clean!

  • Exfoliate - Once or twice a week use a exfoliating face wash to get rid of the dead skin on top. This will leave your face clean, soft and new. Remember not to do this more than twice a week as this can irritate your face and be harsh on skim, especially gentle and sensitive skin.
Good skincare products to try:

  • Origins Matte Scientist 50ml £18 - super light moisturiser that won't leave your skin shiny.

TIP! Try to avoid using oil-based makeup. You are clogging your pores when choosing to use oil-base makeup products.

TIP! Frequently changing your bedsheets can have positive effects on your skin problems. Your sheets will retain the oil from your skin.

TIP! Tea tree oil can prevent blemishes from forming when applied to blemish-prone areas. This oil is natural and will not dry out your skin, tea tree oil helps reduce oil build up in the pores. You can find it in beauty stores or go to Lush, they have fantastic special blemish fighting products with tee tree oil!

TIP!  Cell phones collect oil from your face and hair as well as bacteria and then puts it back on your face. Clean your phone by swiping it with a cotton ball that has been dampened with rubbing alcohol.

TIP! There is a very good chance that if you suffer from acne, it is caused by stress. Make sure you have some time to yourself to relax.

TIP! You need to be strict about following your daily face regimen. Set aside a time during the day for washing and moisturizing your face to make sure it is getting the attention it needs to keep blemishes away.

Also, if you suffer from acne apply sudocrem overnight, it does wonders and is recommended to be used for skin with acne. As well as preventing acne and helping it get better it can help improve the appearance of acne scars :)

I hope this blog was helpful and some of my tips will work for you, let me know how you get on and some of your top tips for fighting blemishes and imperfections!

    Yours only,
